Who doesn’t love a llama?

Today’s CAS (clean and simple) card features our llama from the whimsical Llama and Giraffe set.  The background and misty mauve paper matting is from one of my very favorite paper pads from ART-C.  The 6 x 6 card stock pad is called “office” with a wonderful assortment of vintage looking office like papers. The neutral tones and subtle textures work well when featuring a hand colored digi stamp.  

The llamas are colored with Copic markers ands mounted on the card with raised glue dots.

Alcohol Inks from Brea Reese

This square card was a total experiment with the Brea Reese Alcohol inks.  These super intense affordable inks are a fun medium for interesting backgrounds for your cardmaking.  I did not have any waterproof paper on hand so I took a gamble and used photo paper.  I was thrilled to see the colors mix and create this glaze-like layered effect.

My little chicks are from Vera Lane Studio’s Farm Animal set 2 .  The chicks are colored in COPIC markers and mounted on foam squares.  The stamp sticker is from K& Company.

Welcome Guest Designer for February; Bonnie Irvine

We are excited that Bonnie is joining us as guest designer for Vera Lane Studio.  Bonnie has been a fan favorite and frequent poster.  Her passion for Vera Lane images really shows in her brilliant and cheerful creations and excellent workmanship.  We hope you will follow Bonnie's weekly postings along with the rest of our stellar team.  
  

My name is Bonnie Irvine and I live in a tiny rural town in western Ontario, Canada. I have been a craft fanatic since I was a little girl. It's always been my go-to free time activity. I love creating with paper, paint, inks, and especially digital stamps since they give me the flexibility I need for the various sizes and substrates I work on. Mixed media and art journaling are a particular favourite and I love the way Vera Lane Studio images spark my creativity and suit my colourful quirky style. I am delighted to guest design with this talented team this month.

February Guest Designer: "Tasha" Nez

Vera Lane Studio welcomes Tasha Nez to guest design for the month of February.  Tasha has been a fan of Vera Lane Studio and likes the quirkiness of our characters. Her design strengths are creative use of color, composition, mixed-media  techniques, and of course, her imagination.

Tasha has shared her whimsical works on our FB fan site.  Here are two examples of her creativity using Vera Lane Studio images.

Tasha would like to share a little bit about herself:

I am a mixed media artist, student, and amateur photographer from sunny New Mexico. I am currently studying to receive
my Associate of Science for Human Services and have a passion to help others. My other passion, of course, is art and making
fun projects to share with others. I first started out making artist trading cards with sharpie markers as my only medium. It
wasn’t until I saw mixed media artists and their stunning work that I ventured out of my comfort zone. It is my hope that I
can inspire others to look beyond the obvious and make their worlds as colorful as they can be.

Welcome October Guest Designer, Maxine Hole

It's hard to believe October is here and we are welcoming another guest designer to the Vera Lane Studio design team.  Maxine Hole comes from Croydon, England, a large town in South London.  Maxine has been a member of Vera Lane Studio fan group since June 2015 and would like to let you know a little bit about herself.

I live in Surrey and have been married 20 years.  I have two children , one now at college and the other looking at University. About 4 1/2 years ago I found I had more free time on my hands so I joined a local card group run by our previous guest designer Jo Harper, since then I haven't looked back.
I really enjoy making clever cards that move and I love getting my teeth into a project, so this guest spot has been a pleasure and has relit my passion for all things craft.  I hope you like what I have created, leave me a comment and say Hi!

October Nights - a collaborative with Papercakes and Vera Lane Studio

I'm excited to announce a month long collaborative with Vera Lane Studio and Papercakes by Serena Bee.  

The design team of Vera Lane Studio will be posting creations with Serena Bee's Papercakes paper collections Spooky Pastels and October Nights along with our quirky Vera Lane Studio digi stamps.  This collaboration is a perfect marriage of whimsy and fun!  With both digital download products the possibilities are endless and I am certain you will agree when you see what our design team has come up with.

Our collaboration will run the month of October.  Vera Lane Studio Digi Stamps has dozens of Halloween images for every taste, cute to spooky, whimsical to wonky.  The Papercakes paper collections offer a wide variety of patterns for you to mix and match to coordinate with your art creations.  To view this exciting collaboration please check us out on FaceBook.

Welcome Guest Designer Jo Harper

 Jo Harper will be joining the Vera Lane Studio design team in our guest designer spot for September.  Jo is no stranger to Vera Lane as an active participant in our monthly themed swaps.  Our theme for September is "The Royals".  Jo would like to share a little bit about herself:

I'm very excited to be chosen as a Sunday Guest Designer for Vera Lane, and have been busy trying to improve my colouring skills... I mostly make cards and ATC's, and I love funny quotes and words!

I have been married for 24 years, with two children, both at University. Oh, and a cat called Tortie! We live in a small village in the country, just outside London with quite a large garden, which occupies much of my time, growing fruit and vegetables and preserving.

I have been crafting for about 15 years, and run a local craft club with around 20 members (ages 27 to 94) – we love playing with ink, paint and anything messy! We mostly make cards, and I have to come up with a design every week, which is sometimes quite a challenge!

I'm looking forward to sharing my creations with you – I love Janet's images, they are such fun and easy to use, and definitely suit my sense of humour!

We had a great month of samples from our Guest Designer Vicki Garret and we thank her for her wonderful contributions.  I know you'll be welcoming to our new guest Jo and will support her with your comments.

I have been a huge fan of Janet's whimsical and quirky images when I discovered them in my early years of papercrafting. I enjoy many forms of creative expression, including paper crafting, mixed media, scrapbooking, writing and music. Visiting my blog has been described as a "surprise" given my lack of one certain style. I sure hope you enjoy what I've created for you this month!

Meet our July Sunday Guest Designer; Linda Camus

Welcome to July on Vera Lane!  Not only are we adding a new design team member (Corrie Herriman) we are welcoming our July Guest Designer - Linda Camus!

I am so excited to be your Sunday guest designer for July.  My name is Lin and I am married with 2 adult sons. I have two dogs which keep me active and love going for long walks with them. I live in Tasmania, Australia which is a gorgeous part of the world and I am retired which gives me a little extra time for crafting.

I have been card making for at least 10 years and sell my work at our local market.  I am not one that like to do lots of layers and flowers. I am more of a clean and simple worker. 

Why do I love Vera Lane images? First and foremost, I love their quirky design, they are easy to colour and I just love how easy they are to fussy cut.  You can work with them in so many ways from a card to journal page.  Janet does a wonderful job and I hope my designs can do the digi’s proud.

Hi, my name is Corrie. I live in the Netherlands in a small market town called Venlo, which is situated next to the German border.

I have been crafting all my life; I knitted, crocheted, made dolls and teddy bears, painted and probably did quite a few more crafts. In 2012 I discovered paper craft and the rest is history as they say. I love bright colours but also like vintage and shabby chic. I started making cards and then quickly branched out into artjournaling, altering things, ATC's, postcards and tags. I love trying new things... and I have all the time in the world for my hobby as I don't work anymore.  Apart from crafting I also like nice food and wine, lovely holidays, reading and cooking. 

I am very happy to be on this team and I look forward to sharing my projects with you !

Announcing 2017 Vera Lane Studio Design Team call!
 
Deadline for application is midnight mountain time December 12, 2016.

Vera Lane Studio (VLS) is a “hobby” digital stamp company.  Our whimsical and quirky digi stamps are sold in sets as value priced bundles.  Images are designed with the crafter in mind thereby making them easy to color and fussy cut.  Our versatile sets, often with sentiments, are easily mixed and matched to create endless creative possibilities. 

We are currently recruiting a small, cohesive design team.  We are a positive, loving and sharing community and we wish our design team to likewise be a positive and uplifting group!

Applicants should consider the following requirements: 

(Prior design team experience is not necessary)

·       Knowledge of VLS style and images

·       Excellent coloring skills and use of diverse coloring media

·       Knowledge of mixed media techniques

·       Can make a year 6 month commitment – January 2017 – June 2017 with renewal option.

·       Ability to create weekly images to upload.

·       An active blog and use of social media such as FaceBook, Blogs, Pinterest, Instagram – YouTube tutorials would be a plus!

·       Remain active in our group by posting positive and encouraging comments to members’ posts on our FB group.

·       Participate in events and trades.

·       Good photography skills – photo styling a plus!

VLS Design Team Members:

·       May request four image sets of your choice to begin designing.

·       Will receive all newly released sets

·       Monthly:  you may select three sets of your choice in addition to all new releases February 2017- end of terms.

·       Sharing/communication in secret FB group for design team members only.

Two new sets are live in the Vera Lane Studio Etsy shop!
"Queen of Hearts" and "Coyoacan".

These two sets are are in 300 dpi png format but are available in jpeg by request for tablet users.  The Queens scepter and dagger are designed to fit over the hand. Reverse the images and they can adapt to either the left or right -- use together, alone or without.  "Queen of Hearts" can be used with the other creepy Wonderland characters from Vera Lane Studios.

The Latina Collection is inspired by  a memorable summer living in Cuernavaca using it as a home base to travel.  Coyoacan is a beautiful village and home of Casa Azul, Frida Khalo's home.  This four image digi set is inspired by her love of animals. 


Both sets are open to your interpretation with your paper craft and coloring skills.  Use Vera Lane Studio versatile sets for your art journals, cards, ATCs and more.

 

Got bookmarks?

The Housewives of Vera Lane are whimsical and quirky to say the least.  I thought they would make fantastic bookmarks.  These mini collages are fast and satisfying to make, and a useful departure from ATCs.  So make some with me!

I arranged and printed the gals on white cardstock.  They are colored with Copics , a couple are paper pieced.  I applied old book pages and scrap paper to cardstock measured to 2.5 x 6 and 2.5 x 7 inches.  After collaging my precut cardstock I used mono adhesive tape to attach the digi image in place. Paint pens, Pitt liners, and washi tape complete the tiny compositions.  Cold laminate is applied to the front and back of the bookmark and trimmed.

How fun to make a batch for your next book club!  Tuck one or two in an envelope and mail to an avid book lover.  Punch a hole in the top and use as a long hang tag.

Let's cover the world with glitter and pearls

 Vera Lane Studio's "Cherry Street Collection" introduces the digi stamp set Glitter and Pearls.

The Cherry Street collection features diverse characters from the original Vera Lane Studio crew.  The blue header background identifies images in this line.  These digi characters still offer an element of whimsy with a fresh style all their own.
