SDC218; Blue and brown color challenge

Gez is hostess this week for the SDC 218 Stampotique Designer's Challenge.  She says her favorite color combination is blue and brown and she is asking for us to have fun with it!

I always find myself needing a birthday card so I selected this brown paper that had "happy birthday" repeated in it -- snipped that out and set it aside.  Then I went into my collage stash and found some blue tones and scraps to make an interesting background.  Kira Nichols little Owlseeyou image seemed the perfect stamped element to this background.  I stamped him on watercolor paper and used a waterbrush and Peerless watercolors to color him.  I know I have some other colors in this composition but this is my take on blue and brown!

Kitty squad squared

Look out!  It's the kitty squad!

New release Kitty Squad by Kira Nichols features a foursome of silly kitties that can get themselves into plenty of mischief.

Also new are Daniel Torrente's calendar squares.  These squares make perfect windows for the squad to peep out of.

Square widows were centered and stamped.  An X-acto knife and cutting mat were used to cut window openings. Kitties were stamped, cut and then colored with Copic markers with white Gelly Roll pen accent.  Kitties have contrasting papers behind them to cover background of each window.  Card is lined to obscure the paper inserts.

I used Copics to create a faux splatter watercolor effect around the squares.
Hope it makes you smile.

Happy, happy, yum, yum

This little card came together rather quickly.  I really like when that happens.

I began with some scrap over spray paper, cropped out an area I liked and added a little machine stitching.  Kara Nichols' new image Yum, Yum is colored with watercolors. I took the liberty of replacing Yum's snack with an ice cream cone from my tiny handhelds cube. On a tiny tag I stamped happy, happy.  A little washi tape and text scrap for contrast completes the composition.  Four lime brads anchor the image to the card.

Tuck in a gift card for your favorite ice cream shop and you are good to go!
Yum, yum!

Throwback Thursday

Maison des fleurs

Maison des fleurs is a lovely little garden house that is complete with topiaries growing out of polka dot high heals.

The garden home is surrounded by Abby's hearts. In the sky hangs nuage 1 and 2 , a double sided stamp.

I began with a 6x6"square card.  Maison des fleurs was stamped with Memento tuxedo black. A Pitt pen was used to create a loose border.  After masking the bottom edge with a post-it note  I stamped Abby's hearts. COPICS and a touch a Prima color pencils were used to color.   I stamped and cut addition hearts and raised them with silicone adhesive. Nuage 1 and 2 were also stamped on another paper, cut and placed with silicone adhesive.  Edges of the border were treated with collage scraps.

It's a light and breezy card for a birthday, new home, or just a happy hello.
Hope you like it.

What does the fox say?

Ylvis's hit "What does the fox say" motivated me to make these animal sound ATC's.  I began with repurposing my over spray papers that I cut into 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" cards. I looked through my Stampotique images for animal images, stamped, colored, added scraps, some washi tape, and scribbled.

Unfortunately I was multitasking at the time and I'm not so pleased with the set. But I think it is still a super cute idea and I offer it to you to give a try.

My Stampotique images used in this ATC collection are all cropped. They are from the following stamps:

Barnyard cube 9106
Chicks cube 9098
Crow line 9210
Cat family  9251

Look through your Stampotique stamps with the kid's and have them identify animal sounds. Make your own set of animal sound cards for a fun activity with your littles!

Thanks for taking a look!

Happy Birthday

Kim of the Stampotique design Team is having a special birthday.  Since TODAY is her birthday I had to crank out a card in-between dismantling my studio space for my young student this afternoon.
My littles, Fiddle, Corrie (little witch in disguise) Skullboy, Laura, Bella, Titus, and Grace without her wings are dressed with France Papillion's banner -- inverted and cut for party hats.  Simple, yet festive. No doubt it is obvious I've worked with little kids for so many years. :-)

Happy Birthday Kim!

Need to dash!
